The municipality of Al Jubail is actively engaged in رفع الأنقاض والنفايات as part of a comprehensive cleanliness campaign. This initiative aims to eliminate visual distortions by removing waste, collecting solid waste, disinfecting and maintaining containers with insecticides, and clearing sand and dust from streets. It also includes leveling squares and monitoring health and food establishments in residential neighborhoods.
The campaign, which began in Al Safa, Al Suhul, Al Wahid, Al Rashid plan, and Al Khalidiyah plan neighborhoods, demonstrates a commitment to improving the urban landscape. Engineer Nayef bin Faisal Al-Duwaish, head of Al Jubail Municipality, stated that the campaign involved the cleanliness team in collaboration with the garage and maintenance department.
Comprehensive Waste Removal Efforts
The efforts included surveying vacant land, replacing and disinfecting containers with insecticides, and removing over 19,000 tons of waste. Furthermore, the municipality successfully removed 15,400 cubic meters of construction debris of unknown origin during the month of Jumada Al-Awwal 1443 AH. This demonstrates a significant commitment to environmental responsibility.
Al-Duwaish explained that 12 heavy vehicles were used to survey vacant land in all neighborhoods, roads, and squares throughout the municipality. A team of supervisors, municipal officials, nine contractors’ supervisors, and 250 ground workers contributed to removing sand and dust from side and secondary streets, alongside mechanical sweeping.
Enhancing Public Hygiene and Environmental Awareness
The municipality secured additional waste containers to meet the needs of citizens in all neighborhoods. Damaged containers were replaced and maintained. Dedicated teams were deployed during the campaign to remove plastic, metal, paper, and can waste from main streets and secondary roads. This proactive approach ensures a cleaner environment for residents.
Al-Duwaish emphasized that the municipality strives to improve public cleanliness and environmental awareness through this campaign. The goal is to eliminate the phenomenon of random dumping of construction debris and waste between residential neighborhoods, disposing of it properly to preserve public hygiene.
